Autism in kids is on the rise, but what exactly is this and how are young children affected? The actual name for these ailments is autism spectrum disorder, and the effects can vary from very mild to quite serious. This spectrum of disorders covers cases where the brain of the child does not develop properly but there is no medical explanation discovered for the lack of development. A number of autistic kids are high functioning and show few signs and symptoms of being developmentally challenged. Other kids with more severe types might not interact with others at all.

In some cases children who are severely impacted by autism may shut out the outside world and withdraw inward. These kids can be quite hard to reach, however it is very important to keep in mind that they are still kids and they still have the same necessities, both emotionally and physically.
