By Jesse Fairbanks

Many people don't think about the drastic long term effects of sluggish response to the disconcerting birthrate of autistic children. It seems likely if the puzzle isn't appropriately addressed soon, within the next ten to fifteen years the globe may be accountable for what might be an entire race of adults who are incapable function on their own. Take a min to think of exactly what would be a gigantic drain on the welfare system.

It's hard to picture a disabled individual has any hookup to humankind's advancement.

A blind guy, a person with autism, or attention shortage disorder, no way these people could possibly have anything to do with development. Naturally your first thought would probably be devolution, however if we closely examine exactly what we find out about exactly what we don't actually understand, we would be impressed by the possibilities.

Since the guy has no sense of sight his senses of hearing and touch are far above average, so he can hear and feel things like songs astoundingly much better than the average human being. This might offer the man a natural capability to play a musical instrument far better than his human equivalents without direction.

This produces the question, is this guy turned off? According to culture he is, however Webster's dictionary phone calls him a genius. We have a nasty routine of detrimentally labeling things we don't understand, so similar arguments could be used those identified handicapped because of ADD, or Autism.

Are these labels a product our ignorance? Are these individuals handicapped, or are they precursors to our advancement?
